Finish the Sentence!
Hey guys!
The weather today was absolutely beautiful! At least it was in Athens. I think being in college has made me appreciate the seasons, and especially good weather, WAY more than when I was in high school. This amazing weather means that summer is right around the corner, and one of my favorite things about summer has always been reading.
I have the time I need to read, and I could actually pick out books that interested me, as opposed to whatever assigned reading I had just gotten in class. So, after getting inspired by the weather…
The sentence for this Tuesday is My favorite book is…
I LOVE to hear about people’s favorite books, it really lets you get to know a person better, in my opinion at least. My favorite book is Like The Red Panda by Andrea Seigel. It’s about a high school senior with a lot of amazing opportunities ahead of her, but instead she decides to commit suicide before graduation, and the book reads as her diary. A morbid subject I know, but the book is amazingly insightful about high school and life in general, as well as all those weird little feelings you get about moving onto the next stage of your life.
Thanks!
Jess

My favorite book (for the moment) is Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. Most people only know her for My Sister’s Keeper, but in her book, Change of Heart, each chapter has a different narrator. You read the story from the point of views of everybody involved. It’s about a widowed mother who is taking care of her dying daughter and how her husband’s killer wants to give the daughter his heart after he is put to death. It’s much more complicated than that, so many little underlying stories… makes me cry :] you should check it out.

My favorite book is The Lemming Condition by Alan Arkin. It was one of the first real boox that I read when I was like in 3rd grade. It is about a family of lemming that all like in the same area. I think it is every year or like 6 years the lemmings would take this a trip out this cliff over looking the water. This book is about one of the lemming being different and not going over the cliff and falling to its death. Its one of the first books that show me that being all the smae does not keep you alive.
Right now my favorite book is the The Dancing Universe: From Creation Myths to the Big Bang by Marcelo Gleiser. This is not a book that most people would pick up. It is all about the how everything was started from the first star or people. Native people had there way of thinking how it started to the people who beleave in God used the bible. This book got my thinking on all the way myths made how people think about how the earth or the universe.

The Count Of Monte Cristo. Super long but totally worth it. Favorite idea from the book: those who experience the most suffering in life are those who can experience happiness to the greatest degree. It’s complex but certainly something to think about.
PS: Agree 100% with Amanda. All Jodi Piccoult books are AMAZING!!!
Amanda: “The Pact” and “Keeping Faith” are really good too! I recommend if your looking for any other good reads!!
