Soroptimist!

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:45 am by Gina

Hello all!

I wanted to talk about this REALLY REALLY cool organization a friend of mine is a part of and I think you guys should definitely look into it as well! It’s called Soroptimist, and its an international women’s organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.

Soroptimist members belong to local clubs who decide what they will focus their efforts on according to their community’s needs. These ladies do volunteer work in everything from renovating domestic violence shelters to participating in walks raising money to fight diseases to holding self-esteem workshops for young girls.

They are also involved in a ton of campaigns as well as giving out awards and grants! Currently featured on the site is The Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women, an award given to a woman who has done extraordinary things for the organization. The winner will receive $5,000 to donate to the charity of her choice, and you can read about the current three finalists and even place your vote here.

There is a crazy amount of opportunity through Soroptimist, and not only can you do great things but more importantly you can do amazing things for others! I’ll leave you with a video about Soroptimist, and if you are interested in joining a club in your area, click here.

Thanks!
Jess

This is very cool. I was in Key Club when I was in high school and started my path to helping people. I thought this was something cool that I did with a group that helps kids with disabilties play baseball in the summer. Making the community better for girls and women is one of many great things that are out there for everyone to get involved with.
